Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid reveals her weight loss secret after shedding over 1 stone
Susanna Reid has lost over 100 pounds since she decided to quit drinking alcohol, saying she just “doesn’t enjoy it anymore.”
The 53-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter decided to quit drinking in recent years and now believes she wouldn’t be able to cope with the early morning call-up if she continued to drink.
She told Woman: ‘I didn’t enjoy it anymore. I prefer a life without alcohol, it’s exhausting and the hangxiety got to me.
‘I don’t feel like I can handle a few pints of Guinness the night before.’
The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant has lost more than 2lb since quitting drink and admitted she feels “fantastic” since getting sober.

She added: ‘It turns out I was at the upper end of my BMI and I have to admit I had been feeling a bit heavy for a while. Since then I’ve lost 2lb 3oz and I feel fantastic.’
As for her diet, Susanna also admitted that she no longer eats ‘half a packet of Rich Teas’, but now enjoys toasted rye bread with a poached egg and avocado.
Susanna is also very fit and has completed two marathons and two Great North Runs, but she had to leave the gym because it made her ‘too hungry’.
The journalist also noted that she does own a Peloton bike, but admitted that it has found a new life these days “as a clothes rack.”
Earlier this year, Susanna admitted she had decided to quit alcohol altogether after doctors warned her that her drinking was causing her skin problems.
In an interview with ITV’s Lorraine, she said: ‘A lot of people do Dry January and you really need a good motivation to do it. If you have a vague ‘Oh, I shouldn’t drink’, it’s hard to stick with it.
“You need a ‘why’ to do it. And my why was a number of things.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star doesn’t think she could make the early morning calls for the ITV morning show if she’d been drinking the night before
‘But one of them was – I kept getting pimples on my skin. And my doctor said it was because alcohol dilates your blood vessels and so you get more blood to your skin, you get that flushed look.
“I was struggling with spots, blemishes, rosacea. Every time someone said, ‘Oh, just get one,’ I was like, ‘I don’t want one on my skin!’ That was a brilliant external motivator.”
Susanna, mother of Sam (21), Finn (19) and Jack (18) with her ex-partner Dominic Cotton, added that she is now in a bit of a ‘virtuous circle’ as she feels increasingly better thanks to her abstinence.
She added: ‘I think you need a clear head when you get up in the morning. A lot of us don’t drink alcohol the night before a shift, but I found that even if I had a drink on the weekend, it took me longer to flush it down. And I just didn’t like that hangxie feeling.’
