Good Morning Britain fans flood Trisha Goddard with support as she bravely opens up about terminal cancer diagnosis on ITV show
Good Morning Britain viewers have been inundated with messages of support for Trisha Goddard as she bravely spoke about her terminal cancer diagnosis on the show on Thursday.
Joined by presenters Kate Garraway and Ed Balls, the 66-year-old presenter explained why she initially kept her illness a secret, but later stressed that she did not want to be a ‘poster girl’ for cancer.
The former talk show host announced in February that her terminal cancer had returned after cells were found in her hip following a fall. She is now undergoing life-extending treatment.
She explained why she kept her cancer a secret: ‘I was struggling with it and just wanted to work and be myself.
‘At CNN and my colleagues, they didn’t know that I had no hair, that I had no feeling in my legs because of the treatment. I had chemo every week for four and a half months.’

The star then spoke about a time when she felt “humiliated” when one of her colleagues discreetly told her during a broadcast that she had a nosebleed – a side effect of her treatment.
Meanwhile, Trisha revealed that she began cancer treatment the morning after her wedding to her husband Allen, whose identity was revealed earlier this year.
She said, ‘My treatment started the morning after my wedding. Eight in the morning and in the oncology department!’
The star added that she had to postpone the honeymoon for two years due to her cancer treatment.
Speaking about how she is doing now, she said: “I’m doing great, I’m feeling great, I’m getting used to my new normal,” before revealing that she receives treatment every three weeks.
She added that the cancer ward is her “second family” because of the amount of time she spends there.
After she courageously spoke out about her treatment, fans were quick to show their support for the presenter.
Viewers shared on X, formerly known as Twitter: ‘I know others are going through this too – God bless you, Trisha Goddard. Your indomitable spirit is inspiring.’

‘Incredibly strong lady’.
It comes after Trisha admitted she feared she would have to marry her husband Allen ‘in a walker’ after setting a wedding date just a month after undergoing major hip surgery.
Speak with Hello! Trisha also shared her husband’s identity for the first time about her diagnosis, having previously kept his name and face secret on social media.
She also revealed intimate details about her marriage to Allen after they tied the knot in August 2022.
The Dancing On Ice star admitted that after getting engaged in January that year, she found the prospect of getting married in a ‘walker’ horrifying.
The couple planned their big day just a month after her hip surgery, and were married by a rabbi in front of 70 guests at their local Connecticut restaurant.
Trisha wore a Victoria Beckham dress and used a decorated cane to walk down the aisle, keeping her cancer a secret from most of the crowd.
She said, “We said a few things to a few people and we were like, ‘We’re not doing that again.’ Not because people are horrible, but because they bring their own s**t to the rodeo.
“They cry or ask, ‘Can I help you?’ and then you never hear from them again.”
The day after she and Allen were married, Trisha began radiation therapy for her cancer instead of going on her honeymoon.
After her hip surgery, Trisha underwent three weeks of daily radiation therapy and four and a half months of weekly chemotherapy, along with intensive physical therapy.
