Fears of immediate injuries were raised among Portugal’s yellow ranks after Goncalo Ramos was left limping by a guard who bumped into him as he tried to stop a pitch invader.

Portugal’s comfortable 3-0 win over Turkey took them safely to the knockout stages of Euro 2024, but the match was marred by five tries from pitch invaders trying to get close to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo previously posed for a photo with a young fan who interrupted play early in the match, and the moment sparked promise among other supporters seeking access to the 39-year-old.

His patience finally seemed to run out after the match when a fan tried to break through a ring of stewards in an attempt to take a photo with Ronaldo.

The person was unsuccessful, but his actions raised safety concerns and the steward who fell on Ramos slipped as they rushed to arrest the invading fan.

Ramos was left in a heap on the ground as his left knee was removed, but immediately jumped back to his feet and was left grimacing in pain.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker looked uncomfortable as he tried to take a step forward and limped out of view of the camera that had been monitoring Ronaldo’s reaction to the fight.

Ramos was not involved in the match as he remained an unused substitute but still required medical treatment after the incident which saw him wiped out by the most unlikely of numbers.
