‘I feel sorry for your wife’: Golfer Paige Spiranac sparks a feud with LIV star Phil Mickelson amid clothing controversy… but admits she won’t see her tweets because she’s BLOCKED
Golf influencer Paige Spiranac sparked a feud with Phil Mickelson this week after the legendary player criticized fellow pro Sam Ryder’s fashion choices.
Ryder participated in the Farmers Insurance Open last week and competed in maroon joggers, which left his ankles exposed while he played in the event.
Mickelson, 52, is 19 years older than Ryder and was not a fan of the youngest competitor’s outfit at the tournament.
“The Tour doesn’t allow shorts, but does it allow this week’s leader to wear joggers with ankle-high socks?” Mickelson tweeted on Saturday.
‘Showing 4 inches of ankle? I’m not a fashion guy, never will be, but there are some things I’ll never understand.

Phil Mickelson joined the Saudi-backed LIV Tour last June, with play set to restart later this month.
Spiranac took issue with Mickelson’s fashion sensibilities, taking a cheap shot at the three-time Masters champion in the process.
It was showing maybe an inch of ankle, they weren’t too tight, I thought it looked good. But it just goes to show how incredibly frustrating Twitter golf can be that they were so upset that Sam Ryder wore joggers,” he said on his “Playing a Round” podcast.
“Besides, if Phil thinks that’s four inches, I feel sorry for his wife.”
Spiranac admitted that he did not see the tweet firsthand because Mickelson has it blocked.
And while Ryder’s clothing choices seem to have ruffled some feathers, he played well at the event.
The 33-year-old shot a -9 in the tournament, which was good for joint fourth place.
His score was only four shots behind the winner Max Homa.
Mickelson has been with LIV Golf since June and his second season will begin on February 24.
