Goldie Hawn has taken drastic measures to ensure her safety after two burglaries at the Los Angeles home she shares with Kurt Russell in 2020.
The actress, 78, revealed she is ‘never without’ a security guard after the scary ordeal and hinted she could be the next star to flee the ‘terrible’ city.
She talked about the successive burglary attempts in Wednesday’s episode Kelly Ripa’s Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast.
Hawn said “sophisticated” thieves first ransacked her LA home while she and Russell were out for dinner one night.
‘We were robbed once. We went out, had dinner together and we were gone for maybe two hours and twenty minutes or something,” she recalled.
When they got back to the house, Hawn decided to go to bed and soon discovered that they had been robbed. “I went up the stairs and into my closet and I just lost it,” she told Ripa.
“They broke into our bedroom from the balcony, our closets, and they completely broke down my door, which is a secure door, so they’re very, very sophisticated and they got a lot of my stuff.”

Just four months later, Hawn and Russell’s home was hit for a second time while she was home alone with the couple’s pets.
She remembered hearing a “big bang” but did not discover until the next day that the sound was the result of an attempted burglary.
‘I’m alone in the house. It’s the dog and I hear a big thump upstairs, and I was alone. Kurt wasn’t there and I said, ‘What the hell was that?'” she recalled.
“It was just like, was that a sonic boom? Did someone jump somewhere?
“I mean, and it turns out the next day we found out they were trying to break into my bedroom while I was in the house.”
Goldie said she was completely shocked and “couldn’t believe” their home had been targeted again.
“I couldn’t believe it: ‘What’s happening here?’ she remembered.
Now Hawn has turned to 24/7 security to ensure that both she and her family are safe.
“I’m never without a guard…especially when I’m alone,” she told Ripa.

The Death Becomes Her star said she feels “good” with a security guard around and has since built a “nice relationship” with someone.
She suggested that she and Russell now live 130 miles outside of Los Angeles in Palm Desert, California.
She said they finally feel “safe” there after years of dealing with “terrible” Los Angeles.
Hawn and Russell — who have been romantically involved since 1983 and share son Wyatt Russell, 37 — previously owned homes in LA’s Pacific Palisades and Malibu.
They also have homes in Colorado and New York City.
Hawn is the latest celebrity to swore off Los Angeles, as California as a whole faces a population decline due to politics, safety concerns and what it’s known for: traffic.
According to the LA Times, the state of California has lost more than 500,000 residents between 2020 and 2022. It is the fourth largest decline in the country in that time, behind New York, Illinois and Louisiana.
Celebrities like Jim Carrey, Mark Wahlberg, Sylvester Stallone, Rob Schneider, Joe Rogan and Matt Damon have left Hollywood on a high in recent years, with many putting down roots in Nevada and Texas.

Hawn’s two children – actors Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson – still live in LA;
Hawn’s son Wyatt and his wife of five years Meredith Hagner sold their home in LA’s Studio City area in 2022, but Hawn’s two other children – actors Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson – are still LA residents.
Kate, 45, lives on a huge Pacific Palisades estate previously owned by her mother, with her fiancé Danny Fujikawa, 38, and her three children: Ryder, 20, Bingham, 12, and Rani Rose, five.
Oliver, 47, and his queen wife Erinn Bartlett, 51, recently renovated their Los Angeles home after hanging out with Hawn and Russell for several weeks.
The long-married couple share four children: Rio Laura, eight, Bodhi Hawn, 11, and Wilder Brooks, 14.
Hawn welcomed Kate and Oliver during her wedding to acclaimed musician Bill Hudson, 74. They were married from 1976 to 1982.
Kate and Oliver were estranged from their father for most of their lives, but have recently begun to mend the family rift.
