An Australian nightclub has been given permission to let guests party all night and into Sunday morning – and organizers are celebrating in a very raunchy way.
Gold Coast nightclub TEMPO, which calls itself the 'home of Latin house and techno', is now allowed to trade until 9am on Sundays from Saturday 2 December.
To mark the news, the Surfer's Paradise venue is hosting a kinky BDSM-themed party, where no phones are allowed.
The extended overnight trading hours are a first for Queensland, where until now the law prohibits alcohol from being sold in licensed premises after 3am.
TEMPO operator Matt Keegan said he hopes the decision will lead to more lax restrictions on how late clubs can stay open and serve drinks.
Revelers can party all night until 9am on Sunday morning at the Gold Coast's TEMPO nightclub after the venue was allowed to extend its opening hours
“We're the only place in Queensland where this happens and we thought it was crazy that no one would give a house to people who wanted to party until the early hours,” he told the newspaper. Gold Coast Bulletin.
“Extended trading hours must become a permanent reality for Queensland and especially for entertainment areas such as Fortitude Valley and Surfers Paradise.”
In 2016, Queensland introduced laws to restrict drinking after 2am or 3am, depending on location, in an effort to tackle alcohol-fuelled violence.
Bars and clubs were also banned from selling drinks containing more than 45 milliliters of spirits or liquor after midnight, and pre-mixed drinks containing more than 5 percent alcohol or more than two standard drinks.

Mr Keegan said there is 'no doubt' the laws need to be relaxed to make Queensland's nightlife 'more competitive' and urged the state government to make the change before the 2032 Brisbane Olympics .
In the meantime, TEMPO revelers share their excitement now that they can party all night at the club's kinky soiree.
'I can't wait, omg! “I'm so glad TEMPO closes at 9am, I'll be there every weekend,” said one partygoer.
“Talk about marathon prep,” another joked.
“Let's do this,” a third added.
