WARNING FOR GRAPHIC CONTENT: Bride-to-be and her beloved dog are mauled by a bull terrier during a gruesome attack at an off-leash park – just weeks before her dream wedding
- Isabelle Payne and her dog Lola were attacked
- Her wedding is in seven weeks
A woman and her mini dachshund were seriously mauled by an aggressive bull terrier just weeks before she was supposed to walk down the aisle.
Isabelle Payne was on Wednesday with her fiancé Jacob Thirkettle and their dog Lola in an off-leash area in the Gold Coast when they were suddenly attacked.
Mr Thirkettle said his partner and pet were attacked ‘unprovoked’ and suffered serious injuries leaving Ms Payne covered in cuts and abrasions, while Lola had to undergo surgery on her back.
“Seven weeks into our wedding, one of the worst things happened to Lola, our three-year-old Miniature Dachshund, and Isabelle, my fiancée,” he said.
“They were both attacked without provocation and mauled by another dog while in a dog off-leash area on the Gold Coast.”
Mrs Payne was left with nasty cuts across her hands and knees and required medical attention.

Both Mrs Payne and little Lola are now recovering with the bride-to-be sharing that she and her partner had to buy their puppy pajamas to keep her from scratching her stitches.
The couple’s other dog also keeps an eye on Lola.
Mr Thirkettle said that had it not been for his partner and the help of strangers, their dog would have been killed.
“My fiancée was seriously injured trying to get Lola out [the dog’s] grip. It’s safe to say Lola wouldn’t be here with us without Isabelle’s quick thinking,’ he said.
“We are so thankful to the community members we don’t know of for coming to the rescue.”
The pair have since started one GoFundMe to raise money for Lola’s vet bills.

Dozens of donors wrote quite a few messages to Mrs. Payne and Lola.
“It breaks my heart to see this. Hope Lola recovers physically and emotionally from this. Give her a tummy massage from me,” one wrote.
“I’m sorry you went through this. Praying for a speedy recovery for both you and Lola,’ said another.
The fundraiser has so far raised just under $2,500 in donations.
