A news cameraman has been beaten after he continued to film a TV reporter after she tripped and nearly fell into fast-flowing floodwaters.

Tyra Stowers was reporting on the rainstorm that ravaged the Gold Coast on Tuesday and was perilously close to a waterway when she suddenly fell.

Stowers knelt on the grass and laughed embarrassedly as the cameraman continued to film her.

Footage of the faux pas was shared on Twitter, where social media users barged in on the cameraman.

“I should have helped her up, mate,” one person wrote.

Stowers wore a blue raincoat and black high-heeled boots as she gave an update on the wild weather plaguing the region.

“The heaviest rainfall in the state was here on the Gold Coast, with some parts reaching 150mm…” she said.

Stowers screamed and fell to the side before a painful thud was heard as she hit the wet grass – still clutching the microphone and Nine Network umbrella.

She took the blunder with an air of grace and humor after she fell to her knees and elbow right next to the rushing water.

Stowers sat up and looked at the camera and laughed at the fall before letting out a “no” as she grinned and laughed at her situation.

Nine News posted the embarrassing stumbling block on its social media account.

“Sometimes wet weather gets the best of us,” it said.

“Our #9News reporter @tyra_stowers fell halfway through her rain report.”

Social media fans were quick to congratulate Stowers on her composed response.

A good time to laugh at yourself. Hopefully no harm done and kept smiling,” one wrote.

Another said the journalist was “graceful” in the way she fell – while another compared her to an AFL player.

‘Kept on the mike and the umbrella; brilliant. There are @afl players who flop when touched and extend their arms at the first sign of a fall,” they wrote.

“They can learn a thing or two from Tyra.”

Others pointed the finger at the stupid cameraman and Channel Nine for flaunting her fall online.

“Oh man 9News you got her dirty,” one wrote, while the other commenter said, “Tyra a lovely woman maybe you should have helped her bro.”

“Um….maybe help her up, mate?” said another.

Autumn came as wild weather battered southeastern Queensland, with some areas drenched in a month’s worth of rain in just one night.

Minor flash flooding on the Gold Coast has disrupted rush hour commuters after water spilled onto the M1 on Tuesday morning.

Toowoomba, in southern Queensland, recorded 40-60mm of rain in a single day – an amount that normally falls in a month.

Senior forecaster Felim Hannify of the Bureau of Meteorology said weather conditions in South East Queensland would ease later in the day.

Cool mornings and dry conditions are forecast for the rest of the week.

Temperatures hit a high of 22C in Surfers Paradise, with similar temperatures forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.

Both days have lows of 14C and 12C respectively, while Thursday will be a mostly sunny day with little chance of rain.
