Gold Coast teen dies after falling 15m into Coomera River
A teenager has tragically died after falling 15 meters into a river on the Gold Coast.
Emergency services received reports of the incident on the Coomera River near Riverbreeze Crescent, Maudsland, at around 6.40pm on Sunday.
An 18-year-old man was found at the scene and succumbed to his injuries despite the efforts of first responders.
The teen is said to have used a rope swing on a nearby embankment before falling into the river.
A desperate search for the young man was launched by the Queensland Fire Service, who used a dinghy to cross the river.
Queensland Police are not treating the death as suspicious and will prepare a report for the coroner.
