Two young men have been hospitalized, one with life-threatening injuries, after an early morning stabbing in the center of the Gold Coast tourist area.
Emergency services were called to reports of a ‘serious assault’ at an intersection in Surfers Paradise at around 6.15am on Saturday and found two 20-year-old Toowoomba men with stab wounds.
A third man has been arrested over the incident and police have since released images of two more men they want to speak to.
One of the injured men suffered serious stomach and back injuries and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
The other suffered serious injuries to the lower part of his body and is in a stable condition at the same hospital, it was reported The Gold Coast Bulletin.
Initial reports suggested the incident was a shooting, but no weapons or evidence were found at the scene on Remembrance Drive at Markwell Avenue.
‘The police spoke to several people at the scene; However, no charges have yet been laid in connection with the injury incident,” a police spokeswoman said.
Detectives from the Gold Coast District Criminal Investigation Branch have released images of two people they believe can assist the investigation.
Both men were pictured in cars and police believe they can continue their investigation.
