Father-of-three John Paselio is left fighting for life after Gold Coast workplace accident – as his wife shares message from his bedside
A father fights for his life after a terrible industrial accident on a construction site.
John Paselio was rushed to the intensive care unit of the Gold Coast University Hospital on Monday evening, where he was placed in an induced coma.
Her colleague Diane Graham explained that the father of three had been at work moments earlier when a metal object āflew upā and struck him on the head.
Ms Graham said she ācouldnāt believeā the news of Mr Paselioās injury after hearing it the following morning on Tuesday.
“You hear stories about all sorts of things, but you don’t expect it to hit this close to home, to one of our own employees,” she told Daily Mail Australia.

Ms Graham said her colleague was a “very quiet, family-oriented man” who did his job well and was well-liked by his colleagues.
Security officials were on the scene to alert emergency services to Mr Paselio, while his colleagues are now receiving support.

The construction worker’s wife shared an update on social media on Thursday, saying Mr. Paselio “is a fighter and I will appreciate the support everyone is giving me during this time.”
“Right now we are just waiting for John to wake up. I will keep you updated as much as possible but please be patient as I am taking John’s condition one day at a time,” she wrote.
Mrs. Graham has since had a GoFundMe to support Mr. Paselio’s family as doctors wait for him to emerge from his coma to assess any lasting damage.
āThe overwhelming love and support everyone gave him was amazing,ā she said.
“And his wife is completely overwhelmed by the love and support she is receiving through the messages.”
She added that family members had flown in to support Mr Paselio’s wife and care for their children while she stayed with him in hospital.
