Gold Coast: Pictured – the single eerie clue Queensland cops have to try and identify young woman who went missing in water near Biggera Waters footbridge

A light blue floral dress found near a bridge on the Gold Coast is the only clue police have in their search for a young woman who went missing in a creek.

The woman jumped into Biggera Creek, near the Hollywell Rd footbridge in the suburb of Biggera Waters, at around 4.30pm on Tuesday.

The woman – described as white, in her late teens to early 20s and of slim build – never turned up, prompting a desperate search. The dress was found shortly afterward near the pedestrian bridge.

While the search for the woman has been ongoing for three days, Gold Coast Marine Police Officer Peter Venz said divers had combed the river but found no trace of her.

“They have sonar equipment in the police boats going up and down the channels looking for any anomalies,” Mr Venz said. The Gold Coast Bulletin.

‘We’ve had one report from a construction site. A worker thought he saw something in the water yesterday around 4:30 p.m. that might have been a body.

“We have received another report of a woman who was spotted half-naked on CCTV cameras around 5am near Morala Ave.”

Both reports have not yet been fully investigated and officers are also searching hospital records in an attempt to locate the woman.

Mr Venz asked the public to come forward if they have any information about the incident.

The police are particularly interested in finding out if someone matching the woman’s description has not been home since Tuesday evening.

The camera footage and dashcam images of the area are also interesting.

Matthew Botham, who lives in the suburb, said he watched a police boat slowly moving up and down the river for about four hours on Tuesday night.

He said the water is not deep, but there can be strong tidal currents.
