A boy who was stabbed during an alleged break-in at his home has spoken out about the terrifying ordeal that ended when he ended up in hospital.
The boy, 15, who cannot be named for legal reasons, slept at his home on Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast on Wednesday.
Troy Andrew Burns, 52, allegedly snuck into the unit around 1 a.m. that morning presumably armed with a golf club and a knife.
“I thought I was dreaming,” said the boy. “So I thought, ‘Hello, hello? Who are you?'”

Mr Burns is accused of smashing glass and stabbing the boy in the ribcage during the incident.
“I didn’t feel any stings or cuts or bruises or anything,” the boy said 9News. “My main focus was surviving and fighting him.”
The boy’s father rushed to his son’s aid after hearing screams from the room.
“I was sleeping in bed and I heard screaming from the other room, very intense screaming,” the boy’s father said. 7News.
“I jumped up and ran into the other room and saw the boy with an intruder, he was on top of the intruder… and the boy had managed to get the knife off him (intruder) and pinned him to the ground. ‘
He managed to restrain the man until police arrived.

The boy’s father said he was incredibly proud of his son for the way he handled the situation.
“He really stepped forward, there was a fight or flight instinct – you can run or you can fight and he fought,” he added.
“It’s also made us a lot closer, you know, the fact that he and I can fend off this guy.”
The 15-year-old was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment and has since been released from hospital.
The suspected perpetrator is believed to be a stranger to the family.
Mr Burns remains in custody and is charged with wounding, entering a home and possession of implements used in connection with certain offences.
