Gogglebox star Daniel Lustig reveals the truth about his split from husband Stephen Webb and details how he feels about them dating again when they are STILL living together

They were together for 11 years and married for six, but Gogglebox stars Daniel Lustig and Stephen Webb sadly announced their split in April.

Hairdresser Daniel, 43, appeared on TV this week My dirty laundry podcast and revealed he and Stephen, 52, secretly split 10 months ago and are still living together.

On why they ended things, he said: “We had a really good innings. It was really good for a long time, but then it kind of faded away and then we decided it was best to end up as friends.

‘We are also colleagues and partners at work, and the basis of our relationship has always been friendship.

“We get along better now than when we were together, so it’s fine. I know a lot of people probably can’t understand it, but it worked for us.”

Daniel told the My Dirty Laundry podcast that he and Stephen secretly split 10 months ago because they no longer felt their union had a strong foundation.

In addition to sharing their home, the pair own two hair salons together. One in Storrington in West Sussex and another in Hurstpierpoint.

Daniel said every breakup is different, but the key is to keep things friendly no matter what.

He said: ‘You have to try to keep it as nice as possible. For the two of us, we were on the same level. But if you’re not, it’s a little harder.

“Just try to be as communicative as possible and be friendly because you’re all going through something.

Daniel said: “We worked very hard during the eleven years we were together. People always said we were opposites. We were like chalk and cheese.

“It gets to the point where you get to a certain age and you realize, you know, that you’re so different and your foundations are different.

‘I think it was just wise for us to part ways. You have to have the fundamentals in place, right? If your foundations are different, you’re going to be a little wobbly.”

While Stephen has signed up to star on Celebs Go Dating, Daniel said he doesn’t feel ready to meet someone else yet, but he will get there.

He said, “I want to start dating someday, you know, I’m not there yet. Unless someone cheekily sends me a sneaky DM, which hasn’t happened yet.

‘The only thing I can think of is: could he be Italian or French, 6 feet tall, with a Latin complexion? I will succeed. ‘

And as for dating Stephen, Daniel sweetly said: I’ve said it before, but I support him 100% in everything he does.

“He has also been my biggest support in everything I have done. So he came home and talked about things that happened on the show and I helped him talk through it.

‘My friends keep asking me if I’m okay with it, and I am. ‘

The pair told it The sun on Sunday about the couple’s plans to divorce in April.

Stephen said: ‘It is with great sadness that Daniel and I have decided to divorce.

‘There is and always will be a lot of love, but unfortunately we have grown apart and have decided to part ways.’

Daniel added: ‘It is with heavy hearts that we have made the decision to confirm that our marriage has come to an end.

“I’m sure we’ll be friends forever.”

Stephen first appeared in the Channel 4 show Gogglebox in 2023, alongside his ex-boyfriend Chris Ashby-Steed.

When the couple split, Stephen remained on the program with his late mother Pat before appearing on the show with Daniel.
