Gogglebox Australia stars left ‘blindsided’ as they reveal the real reason they were dropped from the popular reality series
The Silbery family have admitted they were ‘blindsided’ by being kicked out of Gogglebox Australia after the show was axed from Foxtel.
Isabelle Silbery, her mother Kerry and daughter Ruby have all left the popular reality series.
‘I won’t lie, it was a shock. Mom was just as shocked and we tried to make sense of things,” Isabelle said Mommy.
It was explained that the cut was due to financial costs, but no cuts were made to other families, which left me wondering why and who decided that three generations of women was the right choice, especially when the show is already heavily dominated by male voices. she added.
“It was the only reason we signed up for the show in the first place,” Isabelle continued.
“I saw a gap for multi-generational women’s voices in mainstream media and I just knew it was important for Australia to have this more than ever.”

As for the future, the women say they are fielding television offers, but are being careful not to “just accept offers that come our way just for the sake of it.”
Fan favorite Isabelle Silbery confirmed the news on Instagram last month, revealing that she, mother Kerry and Isabelle’s 11-month-old daughter Ruby, would not be returning to the show in 2025.
Isabelle and Kerry joined the show, with Kerry’s mother Emily in 2016, while Emily stepped down in 2023 after being diagnosed with dementia.
She shared a photo of her, Kerry and Emily taking their usual places on the couch.
“It is with a heavy heart to announce that Mum, Ruby and I will not be returning to Gogglebox in 2025,” Isabelle wrote.
‘Foxtel has decided not to renew our much-loved show and although the show will continue on Channel 10, all three of us are not included in the new format.’
Isabelle then said she was grateful for the opportunity to showcase female voices on Australian television.
“Nine years ago, I saw an opportunity to elevate the voices of real women across generations,” she said.
‘I won’t lie, it was a shock. Mom was just as shocked and we tried to make sense of things,” Isabelle told Mamamia. Also pictured: Emily Silbery
“Having Baby Ruby replace Emmie in recent seasons brought things full circle.
‘It has been an absolute pleasure to share our lounge areas with you all and I can’t thank you enough for the love and support.’
“It may be the end of an era, but it’s also an opportunity for new, exciting beginnings…” she concluded.
The post received a flood of comments from friends, fans and followers, including broadcast veteran Lisa Wilkinson.
‘Oh no @isabellesilbery!! I’m so sorry to hear that,” Lisa wrote.
‘You are at the heart of why I have loved Gogglebox for all these years. TV, eh Sending love to you all…and to all the wonderful things I know are in store for you.”
Former Gogglebox star Angie Kent also said the Silbery family’s contribution to the show has been immeasurable.
“Well you know what their loss is because the three of you have been nothing but incredible and it will be almost impossible to feel those shoes,” she wrote.

“I think they really dropped the ball here. But what do I and thousands of other avid TV viewers know, right?’
It comes as Foxtel has given the ax to hit series Gogglebox Australia after an epic 19 seasons.
The long-running reality TV series, which sees ordinary Australians commenting on the week on television, has been adapted from a British format and has been adored by fans since its launch in 2015.
The multi-Logie award-winning show was a co-production between Foxtel’s Lifestyle Channel and Network Ten, and was first broadcast on Foxtel and broadcast free-to-air the following day.
But sources have exclusively revealed to Ny Breaking Australia that Foxtel has dumped the hit show, while Network Ten has allowed it to continue, albeit in a rebooted format.
“It was an unusual relationship that was quite tumultuous at times,” the source said of co-producing the show.
‘Over the years, Gogglebox has had two networks really trying to copy their success and both networks have at different times tried to buy the show from each other.’
The source added that Channel Ten has opted to keep the series, but it will look noticeably different to what Gogglebox Australia fans are used to.

“There is good news and bad news for fans of the show,” the source said.
‘Network Ten stepped in and saved us and so the series will return in 2025, but the bad news is the show is being rebooted and will be shaking up a huge cast.’
The insider added that the show would be ‘stripped’ from 2025, with Channel 10 not having to bear the full burden of production costs.
“Gogglebox will be rebooted with a lick of paint on it, I think,” the insider said.
“The fact is that Foxtel could no longer afford it and Network Ten couldn’t afford it with the current cost of the show.
‘Cuts have had to be made across the show and more families have been told they will not be included in the next chapter of the show on Network Ten.’
A spokesperson for Foxtel Group also confirmed the news TV black box.
‘The TV program about watching people watch TV. No one believed in it, but Foxtel did,” the spokesperson said.
‘We have been broadcasting Gogglebox Australia in our lounge areas since 2015, holding a mirror up to not only Australian television, but also Australian culture, humor and entertainment. We laughed, cried and shared many iconic moments together with the Gogglebox households.”
Meanwhile, a Network Ten spokesperson told Ny Breaking Australia: There will be only one place to watch Australia’s favorite banking critics next year, they said.
‘Grab the popcorn and curl up on the couch, because in 2025 Gogglebox Australia will be broadcast exclusively on 10 and 10 Play.’
The spokesperson also thanked the Silbery family for their contributions to the show for almost a decade.
“The three generations of women in the Silbery family brought a wealth of life experiences, personality, empathy, humor and opinions every time they watched television together,” the spokesperson said.
“The Silbery family will not return next season, but we thank them for their incredible contributions to the show over the past nine years.”
Ny Breaking Australia has also approached Foxtel for comment.
