Global risk map reveals the world’s most dangerous countries and cities for travelers – with Britain falling into the ‘moderate’ category

A global risk map has revealed the world’s most dangerous countries and cities for travellers.

Israel, Lebanon and Iran are among the most dangerous countries in the world to visit in 2025, according to the World Risk Map, which shows where travelers are most likely to encounter security threats.

The map is based on the risk of political violence, social unrest, violent and petty crimes and climate change, which were analyzed by Safeture and Riskline for the annual map.

Overall, the security situation has deteriorated in 77 countries. Burkina Faso, Libya and Myanmar have also been added to the list of the most dangerous countries.

The safest places to visit in Europe include Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Finland, Iceland and Norway, where the risk was deemed ‘insignificant’.

But Britain as well as France, Spain, Sweden and Great Britain have moved to the ‘moderate risk’ category, while Italy, the Netherlands and Poland also face increased risks.

Major factors include increasing political unrest, public demonstrations and environmental problems such as storms and floods.

Previously on the list of countries of ‘extreme’ security risk are Somalia, Syria, Sudan, Yemen and Ukraine, which are still considered high-risk areas to travel to.

Israel, the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon and Iran are among the most dangerous countries in the world to visit in 2025, according to the World Risk Map showing where travelers are most likely to face security threats

But the security situation did improve for other destinations. Argentina, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, Morocco and Cuba have all reached the second lowest risk level, ‘moderate’.

In terms of safety in individual cities, the Swiss capital Bern is considered the safest in the world, followed by Doha, Melbourne, Montreal, Muscat and Ottawa.

Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is also considered very safe, although this may change after martial law was declared by South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol, causing protesters to clash with police and military .

The least safe cities include Sana’a in Yemen, Beirut in Lebanon and Gaza City.

One luxury holiday destination that was previously classified as extremely safe will have a ‘medium risk’ in 2025.

The Maldives has experienced increasing political instability, combined with a rise in social tensions and religious extremism, which has contributed to their revised score.

The increasing impacts of climate change, such as flooding and coastal erosion, are also worsening the situation.

The map also took local medical care into account when advising travelers.

Healthcare infrastructure has been found to be particularly poor in countries such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Haiti, Myanmar, South Sudan, Sudan, Venezuela and Yemen.

Medical facilities there are inadequate and access to basic medicines and emergency care is severely limited.

Diseases that would be easy to treat in other parts of the world could become a real threat there, the Safeture and Riskline report said.

The World Risk Map was developed by Safeture and Riskline, which manage and analyze global travel risks.

The map is divided into five risk levels: low risk, medium risk, medium risk, high risk and extreme risk. The level of risk is determined by several factors, such as safety, crime, health and environmental risks and medical care.

The map is continuously updated in accordance with current events.
