Glenn Close reveals why she’s refused to date since her divorce 10 years ago

Glenn Close opened up about her love life and explained why she has refused to be in a relationship for almost a decade, during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show.

On Monday, the 77-year-old Back in Action star opened up about her priorities and now felt “happy” despite being nine years on from her split from ex-husband David Shaw.

When Drew asked the actress if she had been in a relationship since her September 2015 divorce from the biotech engineer, Glenn replied bluntly, “no.”

‘Don’t know. I mean, I’m always up for anything, but right now I’m really happy,” the three-time Golden Globe Award winner added.

She also closed the door on the possibility of using dating apps to find love again, calling them “crazy” and claiming she was “too shy.”

And despite the abundance of fish in the sea, the mother-of-one says she is ‘not looking’ for a partner at the moment.

‘I’m not looking. Because I’m actually – I’m not a hugely comfortable social person, so I’m not jumping to go to a party at all. So yeah, I’m doing well,” Glenn said.

In 1969, at the age of 22, she entered into her first marriage to singer-songwriter Cabot Wade. But their marriage was short-lived and dissolved in 1971.

And in 1984, she took another chance at love, marrying businessman James Marlas. Despite the couple’s high-profile appearances, their marriage ended in 1987.

In the late 1980s, she had a brief affair with producer John Starke – with whom she welcomed her daughter Annie Starke in 1988 – although the couple never married.

Her most recent relationship was with Shaw, whom she married in 2006. They divorced amicably in 2015, marking Glenn’s third divorce.

She previously spoke candidly about why she believed her past relationships had failed during a conversation with 2021 Parade.

Glenn outwardly explained that it wasn’t a “good mix” to get involved with someone else who doesn’t work in show business.

“To remain an artist, you have to be with people who understand that and don’t expect you to have their view of the world,” she said. “It really looks like two different languages.”

Later in the interview, the star attributed some of her relationship problems to her upbringing, including time spent in a “cult-like” environment growing up.

She believes her unconventional experiences have had a profound impact on her ability to maintain romantic relationships.

Now Glenn embraces a life focused on personal fulfillment and professional success.

Her upcoming Netflix film, Back in Action, premieres January 17.
