Wild beachside brawl between bouncers and pubgoers in Glenelg, South Australia, caught on camera, as four are hospitalised and three men arrested

Three men are behind bars and another four in hospital after a wild brawl broke out between security guards and a group of men in a tourist hotspot.

The fight broke out on the corner of Elizabeth Street and Moseley Street in Glenelg, Adelaide, around 8pm on Friday.

Footage taken by bystanders showed the group of men arguing with the bouncers before one man started punching them.

He was quickly contained by security officers as the shocked people filming the fight from their cars began to reverse the vehicle to create some distance.

A man was also seen lying unconscious in the street, helped by passers-by, while the other men continued demolition.

South Australian police arrested three men, two from Morphett Vale and one from Christie Downs, and they were each charged with assault, 7News reported.

All three have been banned from the police station for three months.

A fourth man from Aldinga Beach, who is currently still in hospital, is expected to receive the same ban once he recovers.

A man and woman filming from the safety of a car were heard gasping in shock as the brawl intensified.

“Oh, he just hit his head on a brick wall,” the woman said at one point.

“That guy over there too, he’s not responding,” the man replied.

The unconscious man on the ground was helped by two bystanders while others came over to check on his condition.

Three security guards were also hospitalized with minor injuries as a result of the brawl.

Glenelg’s Party Precinct, located at the end of Jetty Road near the wharf, includes the area where the fight took place.

South Australian police chose to designate the area as a tourist hotspot ahead of Friday’s fight.

The decision gives officers extra powers during the summer season as police have said they will not tolerate anti-social behavior in the area with tourists nearby.

The new rules are in effect for a 12-hour period, from 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This new name applies until April 7.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Metropolitan Operations John De Candia said the declaration would give police additional powers to protect public safety.

“Glenelg sees significantly increased patronage from December to April and this requires a committed police response,” he said.

“We want everyone to enjoy their time in Glenelg and this [Declared Public Precinct] gives the police an additional tool to protect the community.’
