Glastonbury set to be ‘cancelled’ as festival organisers confirm when the next fallow year will be to ‘let the land rest’

Glastonbury will not take place in 2026 after festival organizers confirmed it will be a fallow year.

The 2024 installment of the iconic music festival is on its final day, with Shania Twain moving into the Legends slot, followed by headliner SZA.

But the 2025 festival is set to be a huge success, with organiser Emily Eavis confirming that 2026 will be a fallow year ‘to let the country rest’.

This means that festival-goers who were unable to get a ticket for next year’s spectacle will have to wait 24 months for another chance to visit the festival.

“The fallow year festival is always fun to plan because you have to cram almost two years into one year,” Emily said The sun on Sunday.

Emily has confirmed that they are already in talks with artists for next year’s mega festival.

She added: “It has to be the best yet. Everyone from our huge, incredible crew is crucial to making this event a success.”

Dua Lipa was the first headliner of the weekend when she took the stage on Friday.

Her moment was overshadowed by calls from viewers claiming she was lip-syncing during her performance, but she insisted to the Mail: ‘I don’t lip-sync.’

Informed sources also said the mime claim is false.

Dua said she had dreamed of headlining the Glastonbury Festival ‘all my life’ as she kicked off on the Pyramid stage.

The pop superstar opened her first headline performance at the British festival with impressive choreography to her hit Training Season from her third studio album, Radical Optimism, released earlier this year.

She told the audience: ‘I can’t believe it, I’ve dreamed of this all my life.’

During her performance, the audience could be heard loudly singing along to the lyrics of her 2018 song One Kiss with Calvin Harris.

Glastonbury organiser Emily said the pop star was ‘born’ to headline the festival.

Other celebrities seen at the festival included Alexa Chung, actress Anya Taylor-Joy and model Cara Delevingne. TV presenter Maya Jama was also spotted with her rapper friend Stormzy.

Some festival goers chose crazy outfits to watch the performances. One even hopped around like a kangaroo.

On Saturday, Coldplay headlined the Pyramid stage for their fifth performance at the festival, with actor Michael J. Fox making a surprise appearance.

Two show business veterans have previously performed. Pop icon Cyndi Lauper sang hits such as Girls Just Wanna Have Fun on the main stage.

And actor Russell Crowe flew in for his festival debut on Friday, playing on the acoustic stage with his band, Indoor Garden Party.

Rockers Kasabian performed as a secret act yesterday and caused chaos after too many people showed up. Access to the stage had to be closed due to fears of overcrowding.

Glastonbury directors have reportedly asked their partners to limit the number of celebrity invites this year, fearing the event could ‘lose its down-to-earth roots.’

But no one seemed to have passed that on to chic pop-up club Soho House – which served sea bream for £34.
