Glamorous friends on dream vacation suddenly slump over at resort bar and start randomly ‘jerking’ before being rushed to hospital ‘dangerously sick’ – as their families issue urgent warning

Two Oklahoma college students on a dream vacation became seriously ill after drinking at a resort bar in Cancun, Mexico.

Oklahoma Christian University students Zara Hull and Kaylie Pitze snapped a photo on the beach on Friday before heading to the resort pool, where their dream vacation with their boyfriends turned into a nightmare.

The two girls have since returned to the United States, but Hull remains hospitalized as doctors continue to try to determine what happened to them.

The girls had ordered a glass of water at the pool bar when they suddenly collapsed and Zara, 20, began making some “jerking movements,” her boyfriend’s mother, Stephanie Snider, said. told KOCO.

“The last memory I have is walking into the pool,” Pitze told News 9.

The girls were then sent to their rooms in wheelchairs. Pitze later recalled, “We were outside, couldn’t walk, couldn’t talk, couldn’t do anything.”

The next morning, Pitze said, “It hurt to open my eyes, I felt very nauseous and couldn’t move.”

Then she discovered that Hull had been taken to a local Mexican hospital that night.

“I started having stomach cramps, so they called 911,” Hull said.

But upon arrival at the hospital, Mexican authorities demanded a $10,000 deposit to begin her treatment, her family said.

She was then given a CT scan and placed in intensive care, while her boyfriend Jake had to pay $200 to stay in a room at the hospital overnight, a online fundraiser for Hulls’ medical bills.

Meanwhile, her seizures continued throughout the night and the Mexican doctors had to intubate her.

‘The hospital did NOT treat her, they pumped her full of so many drugs to keep her under sedation, Snider wrote on Facebook.

“They intubated her and told Jake it was ‘sedation for the MRI,’” she continued. “There was no reason to sedate her, let alone intubate her.”

“We knew we had to get her back to the US.”

Hull’s family and friends then contacted the U.S. Embassy, advising them to return her to the United States immediately.

But hospital staff demanded even more money to free her, and the air ambulance to bring Hull back to the United States cost $26,000.

“We tried to tell them to release her, but I was told she wouldn’t be released until we paid,” Snider said.

“We were told the amount would just keep going up until they got paid.”
