Presenter Kate Abdo has revealed she worked for baker Greggs, prompting hilarious reactions from pundits Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards during CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage.

Abdo hosted the pitch ahead of Newcastle’s first home match in the Champions League after a 20-year absence, with the Magpies facing French champions PSG.

The focus shifted off the pitch during a chat with fellow reporter Anita Jones, who said: “You talked about football being one of the cornerstones here, but there’s another thing Geordie loves and it’s called Greggs.”

Jones revealed she had handed out products from the British bakery chain to fans heading to St James’ Park for the match.

“The most glamorous person I’ve ever seen sell Greggs,” Carragher joked in response to a clip of Jones.

Abdo replied, “I don’t know, Jamie. You know, who also worked for Greggs, the one and only, yes I did that.

“You used to work for Greggs,” a bewildered Carragher replied.

“I wasn’t into Louis Vuitton that much then,” Abdo said, “but yes, it was my first job.”

A mock-up photo was then taken of Abdo wearing a typical Greggs uniform, prompting laughter from both Carragher and Richards, but the presenter’s objection.

“My breasts have never been this big,” Abdo said.

“That’s because you ate all the cakes,” Carragher joked in response.

The hilarious exchange was followed by Jones handing out Gregg’s sausage rolls to members of the CBS team on the pitch, before presenting Abdo with a company apron.

Carragher then asked Abdo why she left Greggs, with the presenter claiming she was fired because she had her tongue pierced, which meant she could no longer speak to customers.
