Glamorous ballroom dancer, 24, arrested after crashing into motorcycle and driving off with bike still lodged onto her car

A professional ballroom dancer has been arrested after she hit a motorcyclist and then rode away from under her vehicle with his wrecked bike, police said.

Rebekah Makenzie Tate, 23, was charged Sunday in a hit-and-run collision that left a cyclist with “life-threatening” injuries in West Melbourne, a coastal city in central Florida.

The harpist and pianist was driving her silver SUV east on U.S. 192 when she collided with a 34-year-old man on a motorcycle at an intersection near Dairy Road, police said.

“The force of the impact caused the motorcyclist’s helmet to break off, leaving him in the middle of the road with life-threatening injuries,” West Melbourne police said.

Police said Tate, whose Instagram page features many photos of herself dancing and playing the harp, drove away with the man’s bicycle still attached to the bottom of her car.

Court documents show the ballerina then drove into the parking lot of a Hyundai dealership, still with the motorcycle attached to the front of her vehicle.

According to the police report, at one point she even tried to free the bicycle from her car.

Apparently giving up, she was then seen talking on her phone and was picked up in a black sedan shortly after.

It is unclear who arrested her, but her flight from the law did not last long.

Tate was arrested on Wednesday and booked into the Brevard County Jail, where she remains in custody.

She was charged with two felonies: leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury and tampering with evidence.

Tate has pleaded not guilty and will face a jury.

Judge Kelly Ingram set Tate’s cash bail at $15,000 and $2,500 for each charge, respectively. She also has the option to post bail with a surety bond.

The man who allegedly hit Tate with her car is not named in court documents, but a woman claiming to be his mother has spoken out.

“I am the victim’s mother and I don’t give a damn what her circumstances were. She left my son dying in the road,” Ari Myrback wrote in a comment under the West Melbourne Police Department’s Facebook post about the case.

She also revealed the severity of her son’s injuries.

‘My son was in the ICU on a ventilator. It will be 6 months to a year, if not longer, before he can walk normally again. IF he ever does.

“I have NO sympathy whatsoever for this woman and I look forward to her paying for what she did to my son,” Myrback wrote.

LeBlanc said Tate, pictured above in court, should have “at the very least” called 911

Billy LeBlanc happened to be at the scene of the accident because he was delivering DoorDash orders that evening, ClickOrlando reported.

He was the first to arrive on the scene and provided life-saving assistance to the motorcyclist.

“He was lying there motionless, face down on the ground. As I got closer, I saw there was a helmet on the road and debris everywhere,” LeBlanc explained.

He added that he had seen “no motorcycle” and “no car,” leading him to believe “it was clearly a hit-and-run collision.”

LeBlanc couldn’t believe that someone had left the man there for dead, but luckily he was there to revive him until emergency services arrived.

“It’s sad, man, she was obviously scared,” LeBlanc said, referring to Tate. “But at least call 911. I’m just glad I got there at the right time and was able to help him.”
