Gladiators bosses ditch skimpy female outfits ahead of the iconic show’s return

The skimpy female outfits from the original Gladiators series have been ditched for the reboot.

The racy crop top and pants worn by the stars in the 1992 game show have been replaced with an athlete’s leotard.

That’s what a TV insider said The sun: ‘These flimsy costumes were considered acceptable when the show started, but they’re probably a little too revealing today.

“The new ones won’t be too stuffy, as they’ll highlight the incredible physiques of the female stars.”

Previously, Suzanne Cox, who was known as Vogue in the ITV series, revealed that she had to use butt glue to prevent her outfit from shifting.

She said, “I remember Cobra (Michael Wilson) joking to us, ‘When I die, I want to come back as a hobo'”.

Earlier this month, two new Gladiators joined the lineup ahead of the show’s highly anticipated return to BBC and iPlayer later this year.

Nitro and Diamond were revealed on BBC Breakfast as the latest faces to join the cast, revealing they are ready to take on the challenge of champions.

The duo will duel and compete in one of sports entertainment’s most iconic and exciting gameshows alongside a slew of other super-fit contestants.

Nitro, real name Harry Aikines Aryeetey, boasts numerous professional sporting achievements, including performing as a Commonwealth sprinter, while Diamond, real name Livi Sheldon, boasts a career in bodybuilding.

So let’s meet the new gladiators…
