Giving Kmart a run for its money: Why thousands of shoppers are flocking to The Reject Shop right now

The Reject Shop has wowed shoppers with its stunning new range of homewares that will give Kmart value for money.

Following the sell-out success of its European-style tableware and high-end ‘dupes’, the retailer has unveiled a standout food collection in the kitchen aisle.

Shopper Emily, from Victoria, shared her excitement about the ‘fun’ hand-painted items and kitchen decor, including plates, mugs, jugs, canisters, teapots, vases and more.

‘If you like fun kitchen decor, you should go to The Reject Shop. Every time they bring out these new drops I’m a sucker – I’m obsessed,” Emily said in her video.

What she loves about the new release is how “realistic” the food-shaped items look – including the “milk carton” vases, the “sunny side up” spoon rest and the “tomato sauce bottle” bowls.

Her favorite collection includes strawberry-shaped plates, teapots, mugs with lids and measuring spoons.

“They’ve done another strawberry release and honestly I like this range better because it seems more realistic and they’re so cute,” she said.

On another shelf she saw an array of ceramic hamburger-shaped mugs, salt and pepper shakers, ketchup and mustard bottle-shaped bowls.

“They have a retro diner look, which is pretty cool,” she said.

“There’s a lot of other cool little bits.”

Perfect for those with a sweet tooth, the retailer sells dessert-style kitchenware including “donut” mugs, cupcake salt and pepper shakers and more.

“They have a really cool dessert release – it gives sweet treats and I live for it,” she said.

‘Very 90s, very nice.’

She urged shoppers to visit the store as she believes the range will sell out.

Her video has been viewed more than 250,000 times, with many amazed and impressed by the retailer’s new range of homewares.

“Omg I need it all,” said one.

“The Reject Shop has finally achieved its goal,” another raved.

“Stop, I’m coming,” someone added.

Many joked that they were looking forward to a ‘no-buy 2025’ year, but will now have to reconsider their decision to take home the new collection.

“Ahhh I’m screaming, these are so cute. I’m so broke but I swear I’ll just find the money for this – oh my god,” one person shared.

‘No, what have you done? Why did you tell me? My bank account is doomed,” said another, along with a laughing and crying emoji.

‘Nooo! So cute, but 2025 is my financial shining year. I’m determined not to buy anything I don’t need,” one person revealed.

“Whoop, there goes all my money,” another added.

Last year, The Reject Shop delighted shoppers with its beautiful lemon collection, featuring European-style tableware and cabbage-shaped plates and serving bowls that resemble designer homeware brand Bordallo Pinheiro.
