New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers could be close to returning to practice — and the field — after tearing his Achilles tendon in Week 1 of the season.
Rodgers seemed confident he can return to play before the 2023 season ends — and he said so to Chargers safety Derwin James.
After the Chargers beat the Jets 27-6, Rodgers was heard saying he could be back sooner than many think.
“When are you coming back man?” James asked the multiple MVP winner.
“Give me a few weeks,” Rodgers replied.

The Jets have struggled in recent weeks under backup quarterback Zach Wilson
A return to the field for Rodgers could lead to a boost in the Jets’ playoff hopes
James smiled and said to Rodgers, “You ready man, I saw you before the game. I thought you would adapt.”
Rodgers was seen walking without a boot and did not use the team’s vehicle to get around MetLife Stadium on Monday night.
His return would come at a crucial time for Gang Green, who has struggled in recent weeks under quarterback Zach Wilson.
Wilson completed 33 of 49 passes Monday night, but racked up just 263 yards of offense and zero touchdowns as all the Jets were able to score were two field goals.
Los Angeles only managed 191 total yards, but benefited from great starting position and multiple Jets turnovers.
Rodgers’ injury early in the season put a damper on the team’s chances, but they are not yet completely eliminated from a playoff race.
The Jets fell to 4-4, but they are still within reach to try to reach the postseason if things go well.
