Girlfriend who saw partner hit by lightning while paddleboarding in Rhodes devastated by his death
A vacationer who witnessed her paddleboarding boyfriend being struck by lightning and subsequently led efforts to rescue him says she was left “devastated” after he died shortly afterwards.
Anna Vidamour, 24, reportedly filmed her partner Scott Seddon being electrocuted Monday afternoon while on his board in the sea in the Agia Agathi area of Rhodes.
Mrs Vidamour, from Belfast, is said to have started calling for help after a bolt of lightning hit him or the water near where he boarded.
She and other beachgoers helped pull Scott out of the water after he was hit. According to witnesses, he was “still alive” when he was pulled ashore.
But Scott died soon after when an ambulance and medics arrived to take him to Archangelos Health Centre.
Ms. Vidamour, reportedly a regular visitor to the Greek island with Scott, was reportedly stunned by the events.

Scott Seddon, who lived with his sister Layla and father Steve in a big bungalow in Liverpool, was described by close friends as a ‘lovely guy’ and ‘very popular’
Harikleia Petra, who operates a small convenience store in Rhodes, said: ‘We saw her shortly after the tragic incident and she was devastated.’
Greek officials previously named the victim as 26-year-old Scott from Liverpool.
One of those who helped Anna save Scott was a Brazilian.
Wander Machado, 47, told Greek news outlet Rodiaki: ‘I swam to get him out. But once I got to the board, I saw his body bent over and lying face down on the board. His face had turned purple.
“I knew right away that every second was crucial and started pulling it to shore.”
Machado added: “I was afraid the same thing would happen to me because it was still raining, but I didn’t stop.
“Rescuers arrived shortly after and performed all CPR procedures to keep him alive. Unfortunately I found out a little later that he didn’t make it.’

A friend of the family told MailOnline: ‘I spoke to his father and he told me that Scott had been electrocuted.
“He said he was upset. Steve couldn’t say anything more. He’s heartbroken.”
He added: “His sister flew in on Tuesday to be with the rest of the family. Scott was a nice guy and very popular.
‘He used to live with the family in Greece and spoke Greek. He loved it there, but now they are going to visit their holiday home there and now live here again.’
According to Rodiaki, an investigation has been launched by the Central Port Authority of Rhodes.
An FCDO spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Rhodes and are in contact with local authorities.”
