Girlfriend of late Oregon football star Spencer Webb announces she’s pregnant

The girlfriend of late Oregon football star Spencer Webb has announced that she’s pregnant with his baby – one month after he tragically died during a horrific rock climbing accident.

Spencer – who was gearing up to start his fifth football season for the Oregon Ducks – passed away at age 22 on July 13, after he slipped and hit his head on some rocks at a popular swimming lake near Eugene, Oregon.

Now, his girlfriend, Kelly Kay, 30, originally from Tennessee, has announced that she is expecting his first child via Instagram, stating that she and Spencer ‘created an angel before heaven gained one.’

‘We created an angel before heaven gained one,’ she wrote, alongside a slew of photos that showed her looking up towards the sky while holding up her sonogram photo.

‘All you ever wanted was to be a father. I know you’ll be the best one from up above.’

Kelly said she ‘can’t believe’ she has to ‘do it without him,’ but added that ‘knowing she’ll have a piece of him keeps her going.’

Kelly also shared a screenshot of a text message conversation she had with the athlete before his passing, in which he told her, ‘Ima get you pregnant.’

‘Please,’ she responded. ‘I’m ready, baby daddy. You’re stuck with me.’ 

Spencer was found about 100 yards down a steep trail at Triangle Lake last month. A sheriff’s spokesperson later said that he was climbing a rock prior to his fall.

Kelly said she ‘can’t believe’ she has to ‘do it without him,’ but added that ‘knowing she’ll have a piece of him keeps her going’

He was unresponsive and could not be revived by paramedics or bystanders, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office shared in statement, adding that his death appeared to be accidental.

‘I’ve never loved anything as much as I love you,’ she wrote at the time. ‘You were my everything, you gave me purpose, you showed me what it’s like to be cherished and valued and seen for me. 

‘We had so many big plans. I don’t know where to go from here but I know you’ll be watching over me keeping me strong.

‘You always put everybody else before yourself and I’ll try to hold the same kindness in my heart. From this life to the next one baby, I love you so much and I’ll find you again.’

During his four seasons at Oregon, Spencer – who was nicknamed ‘Spider’ – recorded 31 receptions, 296 yards, and four touchdowns.
