Tragedy struck a family of 10 camping in Idaho after a tree fell on top of their tent, killing an eight-year-old girl who was an identical twin.
The Eastin family of Paul, Idaho was at the Boise National Forest Pine Campground last weekend when a rotting cottonwood fell on the tent, killing Cadence Eastin and the family dog, Sybil.
Officers from the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office rushed to the scene, but the girl was pronounced dead shortly afterwards when attempts to revive her proved unsuccessful.
Cadence was with her parents, Quin and Natasha Eastin, and seven siblings, including Cadence’s twin brother London, when the tragedy occurred.
The sheriff’s office has since revealed that the tree that fell on her was rotting at the base.

Police have been consulting with Boise National Forest officials to determine the official cause of the tree’s fall.
The area where the tree fell was burned during the 2013 Elk and Pony Complex fires.
Several burned trees were left behind, causing them to erode over time, making them unstable.
a GoFundMe Page says the family is completely devastated by the loss.

‘Cadence was a very special child. Besides always having a cheerful, happy character, she was known for her eternal and warm smile.
“She loved animals and they loved her. “It is especially telling that the family dog was curled up next to her when the tree fell, killing them both,” the family wrote in a tribute.
‘Cadence was smart, intelligent and an eager student. Strangely enough, she almost always socialized with the adults at family gatherings and seemed to be gifted with a higher intellect than would normally be expected of an 8-year-old child. Growing up in a Christian home, she learned to be kind to others, made friends easily, and avoided arguing with others.”
To date, the page has raised more than $28,000 to help pay for funeral costs.
