Girl, 15, is stabbed near a primary school as police charge a 23-year-old man with attempted murder

A 23-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly assaulting a teenage girl near a primary school.

The 15-year-old was stabbed at around 3pm on Thursday 22 June in the incident near Corpus Christi Primary School on Premier Road, Middlesbrough.

She was taken to James Cook University Hospital with serious injuries, where she is in stable condition.

Police say the victim and suspect are known to each other and are not looking for anyone else.

A police spokesman said: “Anyone who witnessed the incident, has information or was in the area at the time and has not yet spoken to police is asked to get in touch.
