Gino D’Acampo’s restaurant in Liverpool has received a ONE star hygiene rating

Gino D’Acampo’s restaurant in Liverpool has been given a ONE star hygiene rating as the FSA advises a ‘major improvement’

He is the owner of eight restaurants across the UK.

But Gino D’Acampo seems to have diverted attention away from the ball, as the Food Standards Agency has given his Liverpool restaurant a hygiene rating of just one star out of a possible five.

The 46-year-old TV chef’s restaurant, located on Old Hall Street, was inspected last month by the association, which was not impressed.

Giving it a ‘major improvement needed’ review, the FSA did not provide any further details as to why the second-worst possible rating was given.

With not only a restaurant but also a 360 sky bar, the Liverpool location is within the four-star INNSiDE By Melia hotel.

According to the FSA’s public record, they conducted an inspection on January 17.

With the lowest rating being a 0 and the highest being a 5, Gino’s restaurant received a 1, meaning a major improvement is needed.

While the report provided few details as to why, this usually means there are consistent breaches of food hygiene rules and often a lack of training within the organization.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Gino D’Acampo and the restaurant for comment.

A Gino D’Acampo Hotels and Leisure spokesperson told the Liverpool Echo: “We are extremely disappointed with this rating and have taken immediate action to address the points raised.”

‘Since then, our expert consultants have carried out a robust audit and are satisfied that corrective measures have been met.

“A reinspection has already been invited and we are confident to see a return to higher scores in line with our sister restaurants.”

With an open-plan layout surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, the restaurant seats 210 people.
