The apparent blunder comes after one of Gino’s eight eateries was given a hygiene rating of only one star out of a possible five by the Food Standards Agency.

Earlier this year, the restaurant on Liverpool’s Old Hall Street was inspected by the association, who were not impressed.

The FSA gave the establishment a rating of ‘major improvement needed’ but did not provide further details as to why it was given the second worst rating possible.

With not only a restaurant, but also a 360 sky bar, the Liverpool venue is located in the 4-star INNSiDE By Melia hotel.

According to the FSA’s public record, they conducted an inspection on Jan. 17. With the lowest rating a 0 and the highest a 5, Gino’s restaurant got a 1, which means it needs a big improvement.

While the report gave few details on why, it usually means consistent violations of hygiene rules and often a lack of training in the organization.

A spokesman for Gino D’Acampo Hotels and Leisure told the Liverpool Echo at the time: ‘We are extremely disappointed with this review and have taken immediate action to address the points raised.

Our expert advisors have since conducted a thorough audit and are satisfied that corrective actions have been met.

“A re-inspection has already been invited and we are confident to see a return to higher scores in line with our sister restaurants.”
