‘I don’t do many of these [events]. This is the first time I’ve worn heels in a long time!’ Gina confessed, adding that tonight was the perfect excuse to get ready.

‘It’s been a while, you know, after the pandemic, people got really lazy and then I directed my first movie and I was like, ‘Great! I don’t have to wear makeup for a while!’

When asked to share how she has maintained her confidence in an industry that often breeds and feeds on insecurity and self-doubt, Gina explained that a strong sense of self is essential.

“The world is crazy and it’s really important to stay grounded and stick with [the flow] and I know what you need to fight negativity because it’s everywhere,” he said.

‘We all have to do that for each other. Because if we don’t have a stability within ourselves, we will be toppled too easily.’

With an impressive decades-long career as a Hollywood actress, Gina was recently able to add ‘feature director’ to her resume.

She was approached to direct for the television network by Lifetime executive producer Tanya Lopez, having starred in Lifetime movies in the past.

“I’ve never directed a full movie before, a full 90 minute movie,” Gina said. “And honestly, I was like, I don’t know if Lifetime and I are a perfect fit because I have a tendency to be a little more edgy.”

But, to Gina’s surprise, Lopez was completely open to her vision.

‘Y [Lopez] it was like, ‘Do whatever you want,’ he recalled. “So he sent me a story that I really thought was interesting in today’s world because it’s about gun violence and it’s about mental illness and it’s about kindness, more than anything else.”

Gina revealed that it was a “really challenging situation” because she only has 13 days to shoot an hour and a half movie.

“It was really a bit crazy, but it was a very interesting experience and I really loved it and I look forward to doing more,” he said, adding that he also had a “wonderful cast that supported me, so thank God for that.” !’

Gina was then asked to share her thoughts on actress Angela Bassett and Michelle Yeoh’s big wins this awards season, including their recent Oscar nominations.
