Gillian Anderson supports on/off partner Peter Morgan at The Crown season five premiere

In a twist to rival one of his own TV dramas, The Crown writer Peter Morgan has rekindled his friendship with actress Gillian Anderson.

Anderson was a surprise arrival at the premiere of the fifth series of The Crown on Wednesday at the Theater Royal, Drury Lane, all the more so as no other former cast members were in attendance.

I’m told, “She and Peter are good friends again, and she was there to support him. It’s not clear if this will develop into a romance – they are a very private couple.’

Anderson played Thatcher in the fourth series of The Crown, in which the star lived through her tenure in the 1980s, focusing on her turbulent relationship with the royal family.

She was dressed to impress at the event in a stylish black dress with studded embellishments.

The beauty added inches to her frame in a pair of sky-high silver metal heels and added a pop of color with a red manicure.

Morgan and Anderson were a couple from 2016 to 2020, although they never lived together.

She said, ‘My partner and I don’t live together. If we did, that would be the end.’

They broke up in December 2020 and within weeks Morgan was in a relationship with filmmaker Jemima Khan, who at the time gave advice on scripting scenes with Princess Diana, who was her boyfriend.

However, at the end of February 2021, Morgan and Khan broke up.

Pals of Khan, formerly married to playboy cricketer and politician Imran, said Morgan had chased her – and that she was hit ‘before six’ by the dumping.

They believed he wanted to go back to Anderson. By March 2021, Anderson thanked Morgan from the Golden Globes stage, although sources said they were not an item at the time.

However, it seems they’ve become close again, beyond the glare of the spotlight — Anderson quietly attended the first night of Morgan’s play Patriots at the Almeida Theater this summer — and some friends say the romance is rekindling.
