Giants quarterback Daniel Jones will miss his third straight game with a neck injury, and Tyrod Taylor will start in Sunday’s MetLife Stadium game against the Jets.
Giants coach Brian Daboll said Friday that Jones, 26, and backup running back Gary Brightwell (hamstring) will be out for Sunday’s game.
Doctors have not cleared Jones, who signed a four-year extension worth $160 million in the offseason, from contact since he was injured by a blindside sack in a 31-16 loss to Miami on Oct. 8.
The Giants (2-5) are looking for their first winning streak of the season as they try to end a two-game winning streak by the Jets (3-3).
Jones has said repeatedly that his neck is falling better, and that he was allowed to practice in individual exercises.

The Giants will turn to backup QB Tyrod Taylor, 34, who started in the win against Washington
He appeared to have made progress last week when he was listed as doubtful for the game against Washington.
This week he was ruled out two days before the game, and Daboll had no idea Friday when he would be cleared by medical personnel.
‘I don’t have a crystal ball with injuries. But he’s getting better,” the 48-year-old, second-year head coach said, ESPN reported.
Taylor has played well the past two games and led New York to a 147-7 victory over the Commanders on Sunday.
Jones, 26, is recovering from a neck injury suffered during the 31-16 loss to Miami in Week 5
He threw two touchdown passes and hasn’t thrown an interception since taking over as starter.
What’s more, the 34-year-old is the first black quarterback to ever win a game for the Giants since the NFL franchise was founded in 1925, according to NBC Sports.
Rookie Tommy DeVito will be named Taylor’s backup on Sunday.
