Giants’ Darren Waller, 31, to retire from NFL after recent split from WNBA star Kelsey Plum

NFL star Darren Waller has informed the New York Giants that he will end his football career at the age of 31, following his recent divorce from WNBA star Kelsey Plum.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the veteran tight end “hasn’t attended practices and the team has known for some time he wasn’t playing.”

Waller, who only signed with the Giants last year, has until the start of the team’s mandatory minicamp (June 11) to officially make a decision.

The rumors surrounding the former Pro Bowl selectee’s decision come just weeks after he and Plum, a point guard for the Las Vegas Aces, filed for divorce in April.

The couple had been married for just over a year when they tied the knot in March 2023
