In the second quarter of Sunday afternoon’s game, a brawl broke out between the New York Giants and Washington Commanders.

As a result, Giants cornerback Cor’Dale Flott and Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel were ejected from the game.

Commanders quarterback Sam Howell had the ball just outside the end zone after shaking off New York’s Micah McFadden and pinballing Deonte Banks. The ball had already crossed the goal line when Howell was tackled by Robert Nnanna Okereke and Xavier McKinney.

Howell managed to get to his feet before McKinney pushed him out of bounds and onto the turf.

In an attempt to confront McKinney, Samuel pushed Flott aside and the brawl broke out as players crowded the sidelines.

Charles Leno Jr. of Washington placed his helmet on top of McKinney’s as Samuel and Flott’s shoving match continued and Howell remained on the grass. Leno Jr. then grabbed McKinney’s collar while McKinney held his helmet.

Washington’s Andrew Wylie and New York’s Dexter Lawrence II also traded pushes amid all the commotion.

Fortunately, the brawl was quickly defused and Howell was able to return after being checked for a concussion after the game.

Earlier in the game, Washington’s backup defenseman, Efe Obada, was taken off the field after suffering a leg injury.

The Giants went into halftime with a 14-9 lead.
