NBA All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo says he’s ‘not in pain’ ahead of return from injury against Brooklyn Nets as Bucks star appears on The Daily Show in New York and pays tribute to his family for where it is today.
Giannis Antetokounmpo appeared on the daily program and told guest host Hasan Minhaj that he “doesn’t feel pain” in his knee.
The Milwaukee Bucks’ superstar center played less than a minute in the 2023 All-Star Game, scoring a basket and then fouling out so he could sit out the rest of the game.
After the game, Antetokounmpo flew to New York to have his knee examined, and it was revealed that there was no serious damage.
Before Minhaj got Giannis to badmouth NBA players and sample various American candies, he asked how the star’s knee was doing now, after Antetokounmpo missed a few games while rehabbing from the injury.
‘It feels good, it feels good. I don’t feel pain, man,’ Antetokounmpo told him.
Giannis Antetokounmpo appeared on The Daily Show to promote his family’s foundation.
He told host Hasan Minhaj that his knee ‘feels good’ and that he ‘doesn’t feel pain’ in it.
While on the show, Giannis opened up about his family and growing up, promoting his family’s foundation, the Charles Antetokounmpo Foundation, which helps children in Milwaukee, his native Greece, and his father’s native Nigeria.
I would not be here. I would not be in this position that I have seen today without my family, without the sacrifices…without the sacrifice that my parents made every day to support us,” he said.
‘To put ourselves in a position to have the opportunity to go out and achieve our dreams and goals in life. I wouldn’t be here without them.
“Obviously, it’s been six years, 2017, six years since my father passed away, and it’s in honor of him. And as I have said in the past and I have said many times, he had no money, he was poor.
“He came from Nigeria to have a better life, and we were his legacy. And he could feel him growing up like he was the richest person in the neighborhood because he always felt rich because he had us, you know?
“So we decided to come together as a family and build this foundation to basically do what the people did for us, just reach out and give them a chance to be great at whatever they decide to do.”
‘And help them be that step so they go out and reach their dreams the same way I did.’
Giannis said on the show that he will play in the Bucks’ next game against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night.
