Gianni Infantino has said FIFA will ask every country in the world to name a stadium after Pele, following his death last week.
The icon of Brazil died at the age of 82 and Infantino will ask countries to do this to consolidate Pelé’s legacy.
Speaking in Brazil, Infantino said: “We are going to ask that every country in the world have at least one stadium named after Pele.”

Infantino continued that the reason for this idea would be “so that children know the importance of Pelé.”
Pelé is the only player to have won the World Cup three times: he won with Brazil in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
During his more than 20 years as a professional footballer, the silky striker has also racked up over 1,200 career goals – an incredible feat.
However, Infantino’s idea to name all these stadiums after Pelé is unlikely to be particularly well received.
This is also just the latest move from Infantino that has confounded soccer fans following his World Cup performance.
Pelé is the only footballer to have won three World Cups: he won in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
Infantino has recently come under fire for his relationship with ‘Salt Bae’, who stormed onto the pitch after the World Cup final.
FIFA has said that “internal measures will be taken” following the incident in which the famous butcher posed with Lionel Messi and company.
During the preparation for the World Cup, Infantino also confused the fans with a strange pre-tournament speech.
Whether the latest idea from the FIFA president will come to fruition remains to be seen.
During Pele’s professional soccer career, the striker scored more than 1,200 goals.
