Getting an insight into the side characters of House of the Dragon season 2 so far
House of the Dragon is absolutely overrun with characters, and they can be hard to follow even when you see them on screen constantly. But now that the second season has begun, the world of the show is expanding, which means we’re starting to see some new characters that we don’t yet know how to fit into the world. And while some of them don’t appear in much of the show, a few others seem quite important.
After all, this kind of broadening of scope is quite typical of the second season of a TV show. Game of Thrones season 2 was a huge expansion from the first. Of course, we’ll eventually learn a little more about each of these characters and how they fit into the Dance of Dragons, but for now, here’s a quick update on the new faces and what we know about them.
(Ed note: This post contains descriptions of characters from the first two episodes of House of the Dragon season 2, but contains no spoilers for anything later in the season.)
Hugo Hamer
Hugh is the blacksmith who asked Aegon for extra money for the blacksmiths in the first episode of season 2 – just after Aegon heard the farmer’s complaint. While he may not have seemed like much of a character at the time, Hugh reappeared in episode 2, in a scene with his wife, in which we get to see the plight of the common folk in King’s Landing. While House of the Dragon certainly makes more room to give the audience insight into how the Dance of Dragons affects the small nation of Westeros, something about Hugh’s striking silver hair tells us that he has a little more to do in this story than just point out the problems of the mob. dissatisfaction.
Addam of Hull
Addam is the sailor we see briefly in the first two episodes of the season. He meets Corlys Velaryon, who thanks him for saving his life and getting him out of the sea after their fleet was ambushed. We also see Addam’s brother Alyn. But beyond those two facts, his goal remains far more mysterious than anyone else’s so far this season.
