Family tragedy for Getaway presenter Catriona Rowntree as her sister is diagnosed with ‘incurable’ stage four cancer: ‘Say a prayer for her tonight’

Catriona Rowntree, a longtime employee of Getaway, has revealed that her older sister Lucinda Wunderlich has been diagnosed with stage four cancer.

Catriona, 51, celebrated Lucinda’s birthday on Sunday and marked the occasion by sharing a bittersweet Facebook post about her sister’s health struggles.

The TV presenter revealed that Lucinda’s cancer was “seemingly incurable” and that a GoFundMe Campaign was launched to help pay for her living expenses.

Lucinda, a mother of four, was forced to quit her job as a schoolteacher in Sydney’s Upper North Shore after receiving the devastating diagnosis.

Catriona began her post with a tribute to “blonde beauty” Lucinda, whom she described as a “true gem” whose “smile and laughter warms everyone’s heart.”

The Channel Nine star also fondly recalled how Lucinda “never gave her parents an ounce of worry” as a child, nor suffered any “boyfriend dramas” when she married her childhood sweetheart Johnno.

Of Lucinda’s diagnosis, Catriona wrote, “I try so hard to choose my words carefully here other than to say many tears have been shed, BUT Lucinda is fighting and positive. We are all.’

‘She has started chemo (pure hell) and immunotherapy (our bright light) at the Royal North Shore Hospital, Lucinda is now unable to work as she is committed to the fight of her life. Her friends created a GoFundMe page to help ease household stress and I’ve asked her permission to share it with you,” she added.
