  • Getafe were keen to show off their new signing on social media
  • Greenwood has yet to play since his 2022 arrest on rape and sexual assault charges

LaLiga team Getafe have posted a video on social media of new striker Mason Greenwood in training as he looks set to make his debut this weekend.

The former England international completed a deadline day move to Getafe on loan, with Manchester United set to pay the majority of his wages.

Furthermore, reports claim that the Premier League club will help Mason Greenwood rebuild his career in Spain by paying for a luxury villa and a translator.

However, his new side were keen to show off their new striker on social media and have now posted a video of him in training.

Taking part in a Rondo – a passing drill in which one team of players passes the ball around the outside of a circle while another attempts to intercept the ball – Greenwood switched possession with the outside of his boot, seemingly without looking.

He is yet to make his debut for the LaLiga club but hopes to do so at home against Real Osasuna this weekend.

Osasuna reached the Copa Del Rey final last season, losing 2-1 to Real Madrid in May and are ninth, two points ahead of Getafe.

The striker’s last competitive match came in January 2022, in a 1-0 win over West Ham at Old Trafford before he was arrested on charges of attempted rape and assault.

The Crown Prosecution Service dropped their case against him in February 2023 after key witnesses withdrew and new material came to light.

He was subsequently subjected to an internal investigation by the Premier League giants following the disturbing allegations against him, but after six months they found he could no longer play a role at the club and secured a deadline day loan to Spain .

Greenwood’s arrival at Getafe has been the subject of much criticism, with many slamming the Spanish side for being ‘tone deaf’ ahead of the player’s big unveiling earlier in September.

The Spanish side have played just one of their four matches so far in 2023/24, scoring just twice with two defeats and a draw.
