Getac unveils two rugged tablets that can be converted into laptops – it’s just a shame they don’t have an IP68 rating
Getac has announced two new entrants to the rugged tablet market: F110 And K120and both promise to push the boundaries of what a tablet-laptop hybrid can do in the real world.
In an attempt to dethrone the Dell Latitude 7330 as the best rugged laptop, Getac is trying to do things a little differently. Theyâre launching a 2-in-1 design that hopefully combines the best of a tablet with the best of a laptop.
Both devices feature Intel processors, ultra-bright 1200-nit displays for outdoor use, and Wi-Fi 6E, making them clearly among the most technologically advanced rugged devices we’ve seen to date.
The K120, designed for everything
Getac says the K120 is ideal for those working in public safety, manufacturing, and utilities. The K120 is designed to withstand the bumps and spills that come with working outdoors, often in hazardous conditions. A MacBook Pro, however, is not.
The K120 features 13th Gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, with integrated Iris Xe graphics, and includes two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports alongside dual SIM card slots, ideal for working on the go.
Getac lets users swap and upgrade the SSD, and the 12.5-inch display can deliver up to 1200 nits of brightness, a worthy match for a bright and sunny day. There are hot-swappable batteries for all-day use, IP66 rating, MIL-STD-810H certification, and more. The K120 can also handle drops of up to 6 feet.
The most striking feature is of course the 2-in-1 design. According to the company, the K120 can be used in laptop, presentation and convertible mode (via the keyboard dock), as well as in tilt mode (when used with the ‘hard grip’) and in a docking mode (when used with the vehicle or office dock).
Getac says the K120 won’t be available until July 2024, but no pricing has been announced yet.
The flagship F110
Like the K120, Getac’s flagship F110 tablet is rock-solid without sacrificing the cutting-edge tech inside. You get Intel Core 13th-Gen i5 or i7, with Intel’s UHD graphics, plus the same 1,200-nit display, multi-touch modes (finger, pen or glove), Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and a 5MP webcam.
Getac says the F110 is designed for industries like oil and gas that rely on fast connectivity and can also pose hazards to technology. Thereâs the same IP66 rating, 6-foot drop rating, and optional salt spray resistance.

The company says the F110 is available now, but no price tag has been attached yet.
