German track and field athlete Alica Schmidt announced her 400m victory at the national championships on Saturday to her photographer boyfriend.
Schmidt, 25, was named ‘the sexiest athlete in the world’ by Australian magazine Busted Coverage in 2017 and will compete in the Olympic Games in Paris this summer after clinching her spot last month.
She continued her good form at the German Championships on Saturday by qualifying for the final in a time of 52.18 seconds, which was just outside her personal best.
After crossing the border with a smile on her face, Schmidt walked up to 27-year-old photographer Fredi Richter-Mendau and they kissed.
According to German outlet Imagethey have been a couple for about eight years, with Schmidt moving to Potsdam, a city on the border with Berlin, so she could be near Richter-Mendau in 2017.

This summer she will participate in the mixed relay at the Olympic Games in Paris
However, Schmidt, who has more than 5 million followers on Instagram, has never posted a photo of them together on her social media.
They have finally made it public, but Schmidt emphasizes that she is fully focused on her performance on the track ahead of today’s final, where she is among the favorites.
‘Honestly, I don’t even think about it [being the favourite]she told reporters. I just want to do my best race for myself.
Since we are participating in the relay at the Olympic Games, I obviously hope that we will achieve good times across the board.
“This is the most important year of my career. That’s why I’m so happy that things are going so well now. At the peak so far I was able to show what I can do and I hope that this will continue of course.”
Schmidt has been practicing athletics at the highest level for a number of years and has previously participated in European and World Championships.
She was part of the Olympic selection for the relay team in 2021, but ultimately did not participate.
Schmidt has been selected for the mixed relay team for Paris and hopes to finally take to the track on the biggest stage this time.
Despite thriving as a runner, Schmidt has previously opened up about her struggle to live off her salary as an athlete.

She has also been photographed with former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua
She revealed last year that she will receive just £600 if she is selected by her country to take part, and stressed that her presence on Instagram and TikTok keeps her going.
She also claimed that she has turned down six-figure contracts that she “didn’t feel comfortable with” and has instead focused on her sports career and building her social media following.
Schmidt has worked with some of the biggest sports stars. For example, in 2021 he defeated World Cup winner Mats Hummels in a race.
She then challenged Erling Haaland to a race, but he has not yet accepted the invitation. She has also been photographed with Anthony Joshua and Neymar.
