German star Marco Reus is closing in on a deal to sign for LA Galaxy in huge move for MLS club

LA Galaxy are close to closing a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus.

According to Fabrizio RomanoThe final details of the deal are still being sorted out and there is still some work to be done with the player and his team.

However, the deal is almost done and the German is set to leave for the MLS this summer.

The Dortmund legend confirmed earlier this year that he would leave the club at the end of the 2023/24 season.

That ended in a heartbreaking defeat at Wembley, where Real Madrid lost in the Champions League.

Reus was born in Dortmund and spent his youth career in the Borussia Dortmund youth system before moving to Rot Weiss Ahlen in 2006.

He then moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he played 109 games before returning to the Schwarzgelben in the summer of 2012.

Throughout his entire career at Dortmund, Reus played 429 games, which puts him fourth on the list of most games played for the club.

With 170 goals for the club, he is the second-highest scorer of all time, just seven behind record holder Alfred Preissler.

However, Reus does hold the club record for most assists in a season: 131.

During his time at Dortmund, Reus won the DFB-Pokal twice in 2016-17 and 2020-21 and the DFL-Supercup in 2013 and 2019.

Reus joined Dortmund the season after they won the league under Jurgen Klopp, something the club have not done since. The club have finished runners-up to Bayern Munich seven times – including in the 2022-23 season, when they lost the title to the Bavarians on the final day.

The LA Galaxy are currently third in the MLS Western Conference and fifth in Supporters Shield contention with a 12-7-5 record.
