German police today shot an axeman near a Euros fan zone during a Dutch supporters’ march.
Four loud bangs sounded near the Reeperbahn, in Hamburg, where Dutch supporters gathered ahead of today’s match.
The Netherlands will play against Poland in the city later today.
About 40,000 Dutch supporters took part in a peaceful march when a man with a gold-colored ax began attacking an officer, the German tabloid reported Image.
Riot police moved in and sealed off the area and tried to disarm him with pepper spray before an officer fired a warning shot.
Officers then shot the axeman, causing him to fall to the ground.

Polizei Hamburg said he is currently receiving medical treatment.
The force wrote on X/Twitter: ‘A major police operation is currently taking place at #StPauli.
“According to initial findings, a person threatened police officers with a pickaxe and an incendiary weapon. The police then used their firearms. The attacker was injured and is currently receiving medical treatment.”
