The president of the German Football Association, Bernd Neuendorf, has revealed that discussions have taken place with Julian Nagelsmann about the possibility of extending his contract.
Nagelsmann’s current contract expires after Euro 2024 and he has been linked with clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United.
However, Neuendorf is keen for the 36-year-old to remain in charge of Germany.
Neuendorf told ZDF: ‘It would be absolutely desirable on our part (to extend Nagelsmann’s contract).
‘We are a good team, we get along well, we have an intensive dialogue.’

Germany beat France 2-0 in a friendly match on Saturday, with Florian Wirtz and Kai Havertz both scoring.
Earlier this month, Nagelsmann revealed he wanted his future resolved as quickly as possible.
He said: ‘If I have a contract offer before the Euros that I’m happy with and that I say I’m comfortable with and that I see myself in, then there’s a good chance I’ll sign it before the Euros.’
Nagelsmann has been in charge of Germany since September last year. He previously managed Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim.
Host country Germany will face Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland in the group stage during Euro 2024.
Since being appointed Germany coach, Nagelsmann has two wins, one draw and two defeats to his name.
Newcastle have also reportedly identified Nagelsmann as a potential replacement for Eddie Howe.

Jurgen Klopp is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season and there is a lot of speculation about who will replace him at Anfield, with Nagelsmann possibly among the contenders.
Meanwhile, uncertainty remains over Erik ten Hag’s future as Manchester United boss, which has led to speculation over Nagelsmann’s possible replacement.
