Gérard Depardieu is accused of sexually inappropriate behavior by 13 women who, along with an alleged rape victim, make allegations against the acclaimed French actor

Thirteen women along with an alleged rape victim have accused movie star Gérard Depardieu of sexually inappropriate conduct, according to France’s leading investigative news site.
Mediapart published a dossier on Wednesday outlining how the 74-year-old regularly preyed on his victims during recent productions, including Marseille, the Netflix crime drama.
Depardieu – who made his name in hits such as Green Card and The Last Metro – vehemently denies the claims, with a legal spokesman saying: “He formally denies all charges likely to fall under criminal law.”
It follows French actress Charlotte Arnould, 33, who accuses Depardieu of raping her in his Paris mansion.
Ms Arnould waived her legal right to anonymity at the end of 2021, in protest at the length of the investigation, after Depardieu was accused of rape and assault.

These new allegations come after French actress Charlotte Arnould (pictured) came out with her allegation that Depardieu, 74, raped her at his Paris mansion
Within a few days of his indictment, Depardieu was back working on the Parisian set of the police drama ‘Maigret And The Dead Girl’, in which he starred with Jade Labeste.
There is CCTV footage of Depardieu performing a sexual act on Arnould in August 2018, but the actor said their relationship was consensual.
The new Mediapart report reads: ‘In addition to Charlotte Arnould’s complaint, we have collected 13 stories of women who say they were subjected to sexually inappropriate gestures or propositions from the famous actor, of varying severity.’
The report continues: “In the different accounts, the same scene seemed to be repeated. They are actresses, make-up artists and crew members.
“They testify to having been subjected to a hand on their buttocks, between their legs, or on their thighs or stomach – as well as lewd sexual propositions and sometimes incessant moaning.”
None of the new 13 reports – some of which were made anonymously – are currently formal criminal complaints.
It claimed that the incidents were often brushed off with laughter and the words, “Oh, okay, it’s just Gérard!”
Mediapart suggests that many victims feared that a complaint could lead to a backlash that would leave them unable to work ever again.
The Charlotte Arnould case is currently moving through the French courts, but none of the 13 other reports of sexual misconduct are formal criminal charges to date.
French outlet Médiapart published a dossier on Wednesday detailing how Depardieu preyed on victims during recent productions, including Netflix crime drama Marseille
Mediapart observes ‘the asymmetry between, on the one hand, often young, precarious women who are starting their careers, and, on the other hand, a world-famous actor, whose mere presence sometimes makes it possible to finance the film’.
The Charlotte Arnould case is currently going through the French courts after an attempt by Depardieu’s counsel to have the charges overturned was rejected.
Allegations against Dépardieu follow a series of #MeToo complaints against powerful men at the Paris art institution who allegedly raped or otherwise abused young women working as models and actresses.
Such scandals have led to demonstrations by women’s groups at high-profile show business events as they call on female actors to stop working with allegedly violent men.
