Chelsea continued their impressive home form with a 5-0 thrashing of London rivals West Ham as they were cheered on by a Hollywood A-lister at Stamford Bridge.

Film star Gerard Butler was present at the game in London on Sunday when the Blues rebelled against the Hammers.

Butler, the star of the Has Fallen trilogy, was spotted dancing to One Step Beyond before the game got underway.

He also had some encouraging words for the team before the game.

Butler told the Chelsea faithful: “Hey Chelsea fans, Gerry Butler here. You may not be Chelsea fans, but if not, then maybe you should be Chelsea fans!

‘Here at Stamford Bridge for the game against West Ham I’m super excited and it’s going to be a lot busier than this. You can already feel it: it is a pleasure to be here! Greetings.’

Chelsea climbed to seventh place after recording back-to-back league wins for the first time since January, and there is a growing sense that the players are responding to their head coach’s methods after a difficult start.

This was a disastrous display for David Moyes’ Hammers. Eliminated from Europe and now all but ruled out of the race to qualify again next year, it was difficult to prevent the feeling of a promising season from fading away as Chelsea goals flew past Alphonse Areola and their players looked increasingly bleak.

Their punishment started after 15 minutes. Madueke crossed from the right towards Jackson, the ball bounced back off Kurt Zouma and ran loose towards Palmer, who opened his left foot and guided a finish into the corner.

The second goal came after half an hour. Palmer made a clever pass through the middle to the feet of Madueke, who tried to fire it over Zouma. The West Ham defender only managed to run the ball up to where Gallagher was waiting, and the captain crashed the ball into the corner with a coolly taken volley.

Chelsea was now dominant. Madueke almost made it three when he danced past three defenders from the right and hit a shot that went wide.

He didn’t have to wait long for his goal, however, as the resulting corner saw Thiago Silva leap up and send a firm header back across the penalty area, and Madueke reacted quickly by sending his header into the corner.

Mykhailo Mudryk hit the crossbar from barely a yard out as West Ham threatened to implode before half-time. Unable to get out of their own half, they stood by Chelsea and watched as the ball was passed through them again and again.

Jarrod Bowen hit the crossbar after Djordje Petrovic fluttered to Vladimir Coufal’s cross, with the visitors finally rallying and asking questions of Chelsea. Nevertheless, there were boos from the away section when the half-time whistle blew.

West Ham’s reprieve lasted barely longer than the break and within two minutes of the restart they again counterbalanced. Trevoh Chalobah threw a ball up from the back and the visitors’ defense seemed to dissolve. Madueke slid into space, unselfishly squaring up for Jackson to make it four.

The visitors showed a glimmer of willingness to improve their situation. Emerson shot over from a difficult angle after going clear, before James Ward-Prowse’s free-kick drew an excellent save from Petrovic.

A lengthy VAR check for offside then confirmed a second for Jackson and a fifth for Chelsea, with the finish tucked inside Areola’s near post to complete West Ham’s humiliation.
