Castillo’s many credits include playing Mario Lopez’s onscreen father, Major Slater, in two episodes of the hit series Saved By The Bell.

His impressive resume includes roles in the iconic TV shows All In The Family, Dallas, Dynasty, M*A*S*H, The Jeffersons, and Dragnet.

The Chicago-born actor learned acting and stage directing at the Goodman Theater before beginning to perform opposite Rita Moreno and Sherman Hemsley on stages across the country, according to THR.

Hemsley was the one who persuaded him to move to Los Angeles and pursue a career in show business.

The first time he appeared on screen was in a 1978 episode of The Jeffersons.

His film credits include Hero At Large, Through Naked Eyes, Delta Force 2: The Colombian Connection, State of Emergency.

According to THR, he often played the “tough guy.”
