Georgie Grier is left in tears after only ONE person shows up to her Edinburgh Fringe Show – while Jason Manford sends a touching video message saying ‘tomorrow will be better’
Jason Manford has posted a touching video message to an actress who was left in tears after someone showed up for her show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Georgie Grier, an actress and writer from London, shared a tearful photo of herself on Twitter, saying the only person was in the audience for her one-woman show Sunsets.
Alongside the photo, she wrote, “There was one person in my audience today when I performed my one-woman play, Sunsets at #edfringe. It’s fine, isn’t it? It is well…?’
Georgie’s tweet caught the attention of comedian Jason who uploaded a video message saying he experienced similar things when he first went to fringe festival.
He said, ‘Hi Georgie, here’s Jason Manford. I don’t know you, you don’t know me, but your little message popped up on my Twitter, so I thought let me message you.

‘You know what, it’s absolutely normal A, for one person to rock out to your show in Edinbrugh and also for you to be annoyed or angry about it, that’s totally fine too.
‘I did Edinburgh in 2004/5 and I remember the first few shows, the first week I think, was such a slog.
“I was out in the rain, no people came. I had total imposter syndrome. “How much will this cost me? What am I doing here? Look at all these wonderful people, how embarrassing no one showed up.” ‘
Jason then spoke words of encouragement to Georgie, encouraging her to continue pursuing her goals.
He said, ‘But you know what, you’re on the road and it’s just the beginning. Tomorrow will be better, next week will be better and next year will be even better, so enjoy it while you can.’
Georgie saw Jason’s video and thanked him by writing, “Thank you so much @JasonnManford and everyone for your kind words of support!”
Jason’s video elicited positive reactions from Twitter users, including one who wrote, “What a wonderful thing to say and do. Thank you! My child is an actor and it’s a hard road. This was a beautiful moment.’
A second user wrote, “What a lovely thing to do Jason. Keep it up Georgia. You couldn’t have had anyone and that one person could have been a casting director. You do it.’

Georgie later shared a follow-up tweet informing people that her show at the Gilded Ballroom would run on the sidelines from August 2-27.
Jason was previously a team captain on the comedy panel show 8 Out of 10 Cats and is currently a judge on the ITV series Starstruck.
